UK Undergraduate Scholarships 2011-2012 Edinburgh University


Edinburgh Global B.A. (bachelor of art) LC BBS Undergraduate Scholarships for 2011-2012 Session
Scholarships are offered to students who are nationals of countries outwith the EU for undergraduate study in any subject offered by the University.
20 scholarships are available for the 2011-2012 session with each award worth £2,000 per year. Awards are tenable for the duration of the programme of study.
Eligibility
The scholarships are competitive and awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit.

They are awarded to students who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for undergraduate study at the University of Edinburgh.
Students already on a programme are not eligible.
Applicants must also be nationals of a country outwith the EU.
Applying
Completed application forms must be received by Scholarships and Student Funding Services no later than 1 April 2011.
Eligible applicants should complete an online application form.

Singapore NUS MBA PhD Scholarships 2011-2012


THE NUS PHD-MBA, NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE NUS 2011-2012
A doctoral programme for entrepreneurial scientists and engineers
The new NUS PhD-MBA (www.phd-mba.nus.edu.sg), Asia’s first PhD-MBA, aims to attract and train talented science and engineering students who have the potential to create and lead technology companies. The programme is jointly hosted by the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering (www.nus.edu.sg/ngs/) and the NUS Business School (www.bschool.nus.edu.sg).

Students develop their research skills by doing a PhD in any scientific or engineering discipline, choosing among a wide range of subjects, projects, departments and advisers. Concurrently they develop their business acumen by working on an MBA. Internships in technology companies provide practical technology business training.
Terms:
• Concurrent PhD and MBA degrees in a short period of time
• Choice of any subject for the PhD, from the life and physical sciences to engineering and IT
• Generous stipend of S$ 3,200 per month (tax free)
• Full scholarship covering tuition fees for the PhD
• Full MBA tuition fee waiver
• No bond
Application and Admissions:
Women and men of all nationalities, with an undergraduate or Masters/Diploma degree in any scientific, engineering, maths or IT discipline, previously awarded or expected in 2011, are eligible to apply. Factors that the admissions committee weighs are: academic records, standardized test scores, research experience, startup and industry experience, completed internships, interest in and involvement in entrepreneurship and business. EXPERTS Scholarships 2011-2012 for BA MA (Undergraduate and graduate students) PhD Postdoc
EXPERTS is a scholarship project targeted to citizens of Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Deadline for Application : 15 January 2011
In accordance with the EMA2 call, the objective of the EXPERTS project is to facilitate collaborations between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from South and Southeast Asia (SSEA) and EU through the exchange of information in science and policy issues while sharing key issues of sustainable development in academic cooperation.

The project provides the following mobility scholarships from South and South-East Asia to European partner universities (Please note- there are no scholarships from EU to SSEA) :
* Undergraduate and graduate students
* PhD students
* PostDocs
* Staff (both academic and administrative staff)
The EXPERTS aims to establish an innovative framework for capacity development of junior faculty staff, undergraduates, postgraduates, and postdoc researchers through training and upgrading their skills in specified fields of study through a scheme of structured mobility.
Note:
In order to be an elegible candidate, you must have not resided nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries.
No student, and no academic staff member can benefit from more than one mobility activity within the same project.
There are no mobility flows for students and academic staff between institutions in SSEA countries of the partnership. Mobility is only from SSEA countries to Europe.

A scheme of Government of India for the women scientists, “Women Scientists Scholarship Scheme (WOS-C)” Is being operated by the Departmentof Sciences Technology (DST). The schemeaimstotrain women havingqualificationslnscEence/engineering/ medicine or allied areas in the area of intellectual property rights (IPR) and their management for a period of one year. Government is interested in retaining the scientific talent of Indian women seeking scientific pursuits and keen to encourage women to work from their homes and enabling them to draw a good balance between professional and domestic demands. The scheme is being coordinated and imptemented by Patent Facilitating Centra (PFC)of Technology Information,Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC)on behalf of DST.
The selection of the candidates is done by an all India Jevel written test followed by a rigorous interview. Selected candidates will be given stipend for oneyear . Training will include one month of an Intensive orientation programme on IPR followed by specialized workshops and hands-on-training in agencies engaged in IPR protection & management.
SCHOLARSHIP : The scholarship will be admissible for a period of one year and the amount of scholarship will be 12,500 per month for candidates having MSc/BTech/MBBS/BPharma or equivalent qualification and 17,500 per month for PhD/ MTech/ MPharma/ MVSc/ MS/MD or equivalent.
LONG TERM OBJECTIVES: 1. Empower talented and skilled women who have studied science, engineering, medicine and allied areas to contribute effectively in the advancement of science and technology in the country.
2. Develops poof of women scientists geared up in creating, protecting and managing intellectual property in India.
SHORT TERM OBJECTIVES : 1. Train talented and meritorious women, who have studied science, engineering, medicine and allied areas, in laws related to protection of intellectual property (IP), management of IPR. determination of novelty and originality of IP, ascertaining patentability of an invention, searches of databases related to patents and allied databases and other aspects of IPR; enabling them to seek specialized employment or be self employed. 2. Develop a core of professionals for preparing specialized reports based on IPR such as technology scan and freedom to operate reports.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Essential
Acandidate should be:
1.An Indian citizen. 2. Master of Science in physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences or allied areas; or Bachelor or Master degree holder in engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical science, veteinary science or allied areas or doctroate in any of the above areas. Candidates with higher qualifications are welcome to apply.. 3. Desirable: Experience in research, preparation of project reports, term papers and similar activities.
COORDINATION CENTRES : PFC is the nodal office having the overall responsibility of implementing the scheme throughout the country including training of selected candidates. It has set up three coordination centres, namely, Centre for International Cooperation in Science (CICS) Chennai; Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpurand Unit for Research & Development of Information Products (URDIP), Pune for faciliitating training of candidates.
HANDS-ON-TRAINING : Hands-on-training would be provided at partner agencies of tine scheme such as law firms, Knowledge Processing Organisations (KPOs), companies andgovemmentagencies. The period of hands-on-training would be about 10 months.
SELECTION PROCEDURE : Selection will be through an all India written examination and interview. The written test will be conducted in four citfes namely, Delhi, Chennai, Kharagpur and Pune under the supervision of PFC and respective coordination centres. Similarly, interview of successful candidates in the written test will be held at these centres.
HOW TO APPLY: 1.Applicaton must be sent in the format given at the end of the advertisement. The application must be complete in all aspects. Incomplete applications will be rejected. 2.
